Illinois posters and its history
The first Europeans to arrive in Illinois were French explorers Jacques Marquette and Louis Joliet who traveled along the Mississippi and the Illinois River making contact with the local Native American tribes to establish fur trade. The British gained control of Illinois after winning the French and Indian War in 1763. However, just 20 years later in 1783, the land became part of the United States after the Revolutionary War and on December 3, 1818, Illinois was admitted to Union as the 21st state. This rich history is also reflected in plenty of these great Illinois posters. One of the worst fire disasters in the history of the United States of America was the infamous Great Chicago Fire of 1871. It all started with a small fire in a barn in south Chicago but since most of the buildings in those days were made of wood, once the fire got going it was tough to stop and over 20,000 buildings were completely destroyed. Nonetheless, Illinoisans got back on their feet and created a thriving city which you can see in Illinois posters.
Windy City
Credited for actually inventing what is now common in big cities, the skyscraper, Chicago has an abundance of remarkable and iconic structures which you will be able to have in your own home, office or recreational space in the shape of Illinois posters. As some of you might know or have heard of, Chicago goes hand in hand with the Sears Tower. However, if you want to be factually correct, you have to now call it the Willis Tower. Completed in 1973, the 440 meter tower is the undisputed king of the Windy City skyline, as you can tell in many of these Illinois posters that feature Chicago. This structure held the title of the world’s tallest building for decades and maintained its claim to the highest roof in the Western Hemisphere for a very long time! Chicago Skyline gives you a beautiful view of this landmark and many more.
