How to Prepare the Wall
It’s important that the wall you’re wallpapering is even in surface and color.
Scrape off any loose paint or wallpaper and fill in any uneven areas with filler, sanding them smooth afterward. If the surface is absorbent (e.g., filler, drywall, concrete, or particleboard), the wall must be primed or pre-painted.
If the wall has strong color contrasts, we recommend priming it before wallpapering.
If the wall has texture, such as fiberglass fabric or other woven wallpaper, you must apply a coat of filler and paint the wall to ensure the surface is smooth before wallpapering.
Before starting the installation, turn off the power. You may remove the covers of outlets and switches, but you can also leave them on and trim around them.
How to Wallpaper Around Outlets
When wallpapering around outlets and switches, start by turning off the power.
You can choose to remove the plastic cover around the outlet or leave it on. We recommend removing it for the best result.
Begin wallpapering as usual, by installing the strips from left to right in order. When you reach the outlet, apply adhesive around the outlet and lay the wallpaper over it. Feel for the edges of the outlet and use a utility knife to cut an X in the wallpaper where the outlet is, then carefully press the wallpaper around the outlet and trim it neatly.
If you left the plastic cover on, be careful not to trim too much. Cut an X and then press the wallpaper around all the edges of the outlet before trimming it neatly.
How to Wallpaper Around Windows and Doors
Begin wallpapering as usual by installing the strips from left to right in order. When you reach a door or window, apply adhesive all the way to the trim and hang the wallpaper from the ceiling down to the door or window. Match the pattern to the previous strip. When you reach the door frame or window trim, feel for the top corner and cut a 45-degree angle from the corner out to the edge of the strip. Press the wallpaper against the door frame or window trim and trim it neatly with a sharp knife.
How to Wallpaper Inner Corners
Begin wallpapering as usual by mounting the panels from left to right in numerical order. When you reach an inner corner, apply glue carefully in the corner and continue gluing on the next wall, slightly more than the width of one panel. Match the pattern with the previous panel, gently press the panel into the corner, and continue mounting on the next wall. Ensure the panel is pressed firmly into the corner and monitor that it doesn’t separate from the previous panel.
How to Wallpaper Outer Corners
When wallpapering an outer corner, simply wrap the strip around the corner. The strip should wrap around the corner by at least two centimeters. Therefore, it’s a good idea to check how the strips will align before ordering the wallpaper — you may need to order slightly wider wallpaper to ensure the seam aligns with the corner.
